Salted Caramel Apple Crisp | GF

Apple Crisp

Fall baking has officially commenced!! If Starbucks is ALREADY fucking serving pumpkin spice lattes, I think I’m allowed to start making my apple crisp again! I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but, TOOT TOOOOT!! This apple crisp is quite literally the best recipe out there. And it’s one that gets better as it sits out. Yes, it tastes EVVVEN better at room temperature as it’s marinated in its caramelly goodness :O I know, it’s a sin to eat a room temperature apple crisp, but you gotta trust me on this one guys!

This apple crisp is alllllllll the right combination of things. It’s warm, juicy, sugary, crunchy, cinnamon-y & oozing with caramel flavor! Do I really need to convince you to make this?? Just do yourself a favor & try it.

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL.

Serves: 8” x 8” pan

Prep Time: You tell me…

SHIT YOU’LL NEED:

 APPLE FILLING

4 apples, cored, peeled & sliced thin (I used 2 honeycri$p & 2 granny smith—you want a variety)

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp cornstarch

1 tbsp lemon juice

1/3 cup Trader Joes Fleur De Sel Caramel Sauce (or any salted caramel sauce you like, but this one is really the best haha)

 CRUMB TOPPING

½ cup old-fashioned oats

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

¼ cup white rice flour

¼ cup brown rice flour

1 tbsp tapioca starch

6 tbsp salted butter, slightly softened

HOW TO DO THE SHIT:

 APPLE FILLING

1.    Literally mix ALL of the ingredients together in a big fat bowl. Keep stirring, the juice from the apples will seep & dissolve the caramel sauce! Mix until juicy & delicious. Set aside.

 CRUMB TOPPING

1.    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease an 8” x 8” pan. Set aside.

2.    In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients together EXCEPT for the butter.

3.    Once the ingredients are mixed well, add your slightly softened butter.

4.    Using your fingertips, get in that mixture & break up the butter. Keep rubbing the mixture between your fingers & it WILL turn into a nice moist crumb <3

5.    Pour your apples into your greased pan (yes, juices & all) & top with the crumb topping!!

6.    Bake for 30 minutes, flipping pan around halfway through cooking.

7.    Serve & ENJOY! This crisp gets even BETTER as it sits—NO JOKE *drools*
